What do you think this means? Obviously, it could be said, “it means don’t associate yourself with angry people,” but even Jesus got angry. What if the anger is directed at anger or something unjust?
The key is in the first part – “hot-tempered.” The Hebrew word for “easily angered” in this verse means poison. 1 Corinthians 15:33 says, “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’” This is different from the righteous anger of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are told in Psalm 4:4, “In your anger do not sin.” Repeatedly in Scripture we are told of God’s anger with sin and his wrathful judgment. There is a righteous anger at the things that are displeasing to God. This is a far cry from a poisonous and unbalanced rage of a man who hates his neighbor.
